LINC 2 Classroom Activities

This resource is a substantial collection of classroom activities organized by language skill and the following 6 themes: employment, shopping, careful shopping, education, housing, and health. Activities are sequenced and organized into thematic units. Speaking/listening activities develop the language competencies described in CLB 2, and include brainstorming, warm-ups, matching games, strip stories, discussion topics, phone dialogues, instructions, true/false, information gap, dictations, field trip ideas, and more. Reading and writing activities are based on CLB 2 language competencies and include reading and filling out phone messages, checks and forms (e.g., warranty, child tax benefit); reading and answering questions about short stories, ads, diagrams, labels, phonebooks, flyers, notices, bills, pink cards, medicine labels, etc.; reading and guided writing of friendly letters, greeting cards, short business letters, etc. Activities in the speaking/listening section of the manual are linked to activities in the reading/writing section. The resource is accompanied by an audio tape.
