September 7 - English is Crazy: A Lightning Talk Afternoon
Central Alberta-ATESL is excited to announce the upcoming event, English is Crazy: A Lightning Talk Afternoon.
When: Saturday, September 7 at 3:00.
Location: Wild Horse Market Studio, 5005 50 Street, Red Deer
The “lightning talk”- also known as Pecha Kucha was developed in Tokyo by architects looking to keep presenters from going on too long. The format requires 20 slides discussed for 20 seconds each, culminating in a 6 minute and 40 second presentation. Delivery is fast, content is informative and fun, and photos quite often include cats.
CA-ATESL invites proposals for Lightning Talk presentations for the following categories.
1) Method to the madness: teaching strategies
2) Please Be (a) Legitimate Assessment: navigating English teaching in the world of PBLA
3) My ESL wishlist: imagining the ideal class or classroom
4) Shut up and speak English!!!: lighter tales from the dark side of teaching ESL
Please submit a proposal of no more than 300 words to central@atesl.ca by Wednesday, August 21. Please include your name and the name of your institution.
All proposals by ATESL members will be entered into a draw for a free ATESL conference registration for the upcoming 40th anniversary conference in Calgary in October.
