Program Coordinator - Full Time

Organization: Cultural Connections Institute-The Learning Exchange (CCI-LEX)
Location: Downtown Edmonton
Compensation: Salary $25 - $50,000

Job Description:
Cultural Connections Institute-The Learning Exchange is recruiting for a permanent, full-time Program Coordinator (1 position). We are looking for a new team member who is keen to support the success of adult newcomers in Edmonton!   Our ideal candidate has experience in curriculum and lesson planning and strong interpersonal skills to support our dedicated group of volunteers.

The Program Coordinator supports our Program Manager to ensure the day-to-day administration of the program runs smoothly.  This role coordinates the volunteer schedule, supports training and recognition, and is the primary on-site contact to support volunteer instructors with their daily needs. In addition, they are responsible for preparing daily lesson plans, activities and materials for our volunteer instructors in the LEX Program. 

Volunteer Support

  • Coordinate the volunteer schedule
  • Act as primary liaison and support for all volunteers when on site
  • Monitor and support volunteer performance in conjunction with the Program Manager
  • Implement volunteer recognition practices

Curriculum and Lesson Planning

  • Coordinate and develop lesson plans for all classes in the LEX Program, with considerations for both in person and online delivery
  • Revise and adapt lessons based on feedback and/or to keep activities current
  • Develop and/or revise learner assessments

Administrative Program Support

  • Organize, maintain, and prepare all lesson materials and resources
  • Support administration and compilation of student testing and feedback
  • Maintain up to date volunteer records and resources
  • Maintain regular and open communication with the Program Manager about needs and trends in the program

In addition to the above, the Program Coordinator provides support at internal events as needed, and represents CCI-LEX at external community events in a positive and professional manner.

What You Bring to the Role
Education and Qualifications
Equivalencies and experience outside of Canada will be considered.

  • Candidates must have at least one of the following qualifications: 
    i. University Degree in Education or an Education-related field
    ii. TESL Training (TESL Canada Certification or eligibility for certification an asset)
  • Training in Volunteer Management (an asset)

Related Work Experience

  • Curriculum development and lesson planning, including assessment, as applicable to adult learners (required)
  • 1-2 years teaching experience with adult learners and/or English language learners (required)
  • Experience in supporting varied programs and services directed to customers/clients (desired)
  • Volunteer coordination including scheduling and/or supervisory experience (desired)
  • Experience working with diverse groups and/or vulnerable populations (desired)

Other Skills

  • Familiarity with O365 and SharePoint, Zoom
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks/assignments at any given time
  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to establish positive rapport with a variety of stakeholders

Terms of Work
Schedule:  Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 4:30pm. 
Flexibility to work occasional evenings. 
Place of Work:  CCI-LEX, downtown Edmonton.  All work is done on-site (no hybrid).
Start Date:  As soon as possible!

Compensation & Benefits:  This position has a salary range of $45,000-$52,000.  Full-time employees have access to our comprehensive health benefits package as well as vacation and personal days after successful completion of a probationary period.  Salaried employees also receive paid time at the Christmas/New Year closure.
