FACULTY OF SKILLS AND FOUNDATIONAL LEARNING

NorQuesters are difference makers and we’re searching for someone dedicated to making a difference to join our Alberta Routes team as the Advisor until June 30, 2025. Alberta Routes is a program within NorQuest College that provides high-quality professional development support and services to adult EAL (English as an Additional Language) providers and programs throughout Alberta.  The Advisor is a Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL) professional and community education champion.  This temporary AUPE assignment will include the development of asynchronous learning materials, creating and building relationships with English language programs throughout Alberta and supporting the work of the Alberta Routes team.

We need you to be dependable in your day-to-day responsibilities to your team, and we hope that you will help us incorporate new perspectives and new ideas that will grow our impact in the communities we serve.

HOW YOU'LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE

  • Participate in meetings and online connection events.
  • Develop current innovative teaching resources to encourage innovative teaching strategies.
  • Use your communication skills to connect with individuals and community organization
  • Help community-based programs find ways forward by advising on program formats, teaching resources, intercultural communication, and other topics.
  • Use your expertise to develop asynchronous learning materials.
  • Track, report and maintain records.
  • Support the development of Alberta Routes Micro-Credentials.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Experience teaching English as a Second Language. A M.Ed. TESL or equivalent would be an asset.
  • Experience creating English as a Second Language curriculum and resources.
  • Be a subject matter expert in Canadian Language Benchmarks and ATESL Best Practices.
  • Excellent digital and online facilitation skills.
  • Excellent in building relationships to collaborate with external stakeholders.
  • Available to work remotely 5 days/week for 7.25 hours/day.

  • Strong collaboration skills, but you are also dependable when you need to work alone.
  • Diverse experience including living or working in smaller or rural communities and understanding community programs.
  • Ability to develop teaching materials for English as an Additional language instructors and tutors, incorporating the most up to date tools and techniques in TESL.

SALARY: $28.66 -$37.24 hourly reflective upon what you bring, AKA your education and experience. We are looking for 2 casual positions until June 30 2025.  The position includes 11.2% in lieu of vacation and benefits.
