Let’s Talk About Empowering Non-Native English Speaker Teachers: Strengths, Challenges, and Collaborative Success
Sep 19, 2024
Please join us on Thursday, September 19th at 4PM (MST).
In this session Saeideh Borji will explore the unique strengths and challenges that non-native English speaker teachers (NNESTs) bring to the LINC classroom. Designed to spark meaningful dialogue among all educators, this session will celebrate the diversity and perspectives that NNESTs contribute to teaching. Additionally, we will delve into the dynamic collaboration between Native English Speaker teachers (NESTs) and NNESTs, highlighting how their combined efforts can enhance the learning experience in the LINC classroom.
Topics for discussion will include:
- How do you ensure your classroom environment is inclusive and supportive for all learners?
- Can you share an experience where understanding a student's cultural background significantly impacted their learning outcome?
- How has your personal journey as an ESL learner shaped your teaching approach?
- What types of support or resources do you think are most beneficial for NNESTs to improve their teaching practices and address any self-confidence issues?
