The ATESL Calgary and Central Alberta Local chapters are excited to partner to bring you this online workshop! All are welcome!

This interactive workshop is designed for educators and academic professionals who seek to optimize their use of ChatGPT in educational settings.

Participants will explore the critical skill of prompt development, focusing on how to write clear and effective prompts that yield meaningful interactions with AI models like ChatGPT.

The session will be divided into three key areas based on recent research: lesson planning, implementation, and assessment. Through real-world examples, participants will learn how to leverage AI to enhance syllabus design, create engaging classroom activities, and provide automated feedback and assessment.

By understanding the components and elements of effective prompt design, attendees will gain insights into tailoring prompts to meet specific educational goals and contexts.

This workshop will conclude with strategies for refining prompts to improve AI responses ensuring educators can harness AI technologies to their full potential.

Speaker Bio:

Dr. Mostafa Nazari (he/his) is an Assistant Professor in the Arts, Communications, and Social Sciences (ACSS) Department and the Head of the English Department at University CanadaWest (UCW). He holds a Ph.D. in Applied Linguistics. Dr. Nazari has recently co-authored a paper on artificial intelligence and higher education, titled & quoted; Developing Effective Prompts to Improve Communication with ChatGPT: A Formula for Higher Education Stakeholders.&quoted; He has designed and conducted several workshops on technology and artificial intelligence for faculty members in Vancouver.
