This ELT Curriculum Guide includes six Unit Planning Outlines for a course titled, “Enhanced Language Training for Skilled Immigrants in Engineering, Earth Sciences and Technology.” The six units include 1) a program introduction; 2) surveying and construction; 3) earth sciences; 4) the environment and alternative energy; 5) machines, transportation, automation; and 6) natural resources. For each unit, the following are specified: technical topics, tasks, strategies, functions/gambits, grammar, pronunciation, vocabulary, workplace knowledge, essential skills, and language skills. As well, resources are suggested for many of the suggested teaching points, as well as for the content area of each unit.
